Photography basics Part 1

So this Part 1 of the basics of photograph editing. I’m going to use a photo of me when I shot my first buck. Credit to my uncle for taking a good photograph.

Always try to use Adobe Bride for opening photos. If you have a Digital SLR camera when open your image it should open in Adobe RAW and there you should start with:

Temperature – Slide it around a bit to see what it does, it makes your photo look cold or warm. I like a photo that is a bit on the cold side, but it’s all personal choice.

Tint – I would recommend leaving it on 0. But remember to play around with it to see if you get a specific result you want.

Exposure – If your image is too bright, use the exposure slider to darken it a bit.

Brightness – If you used the exposure sliders you won’t really need to use the brightness settings, but you might want it a bit lighter so use the brightness slider.

Contrast – This is a good setting to use, cause it can give your image more color and make it look more realistic if you know what I mean.

Clarity – This sharpens your image and gives it more detail. NOTE: Remember to zoom in to 100% for the best view to see if you sharpened to much or not enough.

Vibrance – This is a helpful tool, slide up a bit to get enhance your colors.

Saturation – Use it to make the colors more highlighted you can say,, it’s hard to describe but if you use you will see what it does.

Photoshop Magic.

The basics of airbrushing.

We’ve all got that picture that looks sooo good, but you had a big old zit and some sunburn on face to ruin it all, here is your solution AIRBRUSHING WITH PHOTOSHOP.

Step 1: you should know if you’ve read any of my previous tutorials you should know that after your image is open in Photoshop, duplicate you background layer. First we start with the zits, moles ect. So go on and select your “Patch Tool” and make a little selection around for example a mole, after you selected it click on the selected area and drag it to a piece of clear skin. Do it to all the blemishes.

Step 2: next we will start to make the skin look flawless, go to Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur, set the radius to a setting that will make the skin look creamish, I used 5.3px. apply it and again go to Filter – Noise – Dust & Scratches. Put a radius of 9px and the threshold at 35 levels or so.

Step 3: add a mask to your layer and fill it with black, select your brush and use a soft round brush to color in the area of the face, be sure not to go over the lips or eyes. If you are sure you’re not going to edit the mask layer again, you right click on it and click on “Apply Mask”. Decrease the layer opacity to anywhere between 50% and 60%.

Make some body paint!!!!

How to put body paint on without using paint

So guys here is another tutorial for you, it’s a pretty simple thing to do and it involves using masks, blend modes and brushes.

Step 1: as always open your image in Photoshop and duplicate your background layer. Find the image your gonna use for the body paint. And drag it in to the your main image ( The body ).

Step 2: resize and move the “Paint” layer to where you want it and set the blend mode to “Overlay”. Add a layer mask to the Paint layer and this next bit can if you do it right, save you a lot of time. If the area you want the paint to be on is an arm or a leg, fill the layer with black ( Ctrl+Delete ) and use a soft round brush ( Color should be white ) and color in the area you want the body paint to cover. If it is on the back or chest/stomach area, don’t fill the layer with black, keep it the same and use a soft round brush to remove the excess paint ( Brush color should be white )

Wanna be featured?

So I started thinking of how I can make my blog better and if you read my blog description it said "Share your amazing Photography and Photoshop talents" and I got an idea. Why start a weekly feature? Its cool and it will be interesting. So if you've read my previous post about changing eye colors, you should have seen at the bottom that I said you guys should send me your images that you would like me to feature. That contac lense that will never hurt your eye, here's how to recolor eye.

Hey guys this is a pretty easy thing to do with Photoshop, but it can teach a lot of other things that the same type of technique.

As I always do I get my stocks from either Google or Stock Vault. This one I found on Google and I’m sorry to say, I can’t remember her name.

High Opacity

So step 1: open up your image in Photoshop and duplicate the background layer. Pick your color, for this I’m going to use a pretty basic nice bright blue, I used #0066ff blue. For this your will need a soft round brush, and put your range to “Color” and your opacity to 80%. Then coler the irus in and try to work around the pupil f you can, if not its not that big of a deal.

Step 2: as you can see it looks almost perfect, the only thing thats needed is a bit of volume and don’t go and turn your PC sound to max. Select your “Dodge” tool and set the range to “Highlights” and the exposure to 30% and gradually color the middle of the irus. When your finished select the “Burn” tool and set the range to “Midtones” and the exposure to 30%. Darken the edges of the pupil and the irus. You can reduce the layer opacity a bit to get a more realistic look or leave it for the magazine look.
