So you all probably know about Twilight and that every girl these days is crazy about Edward Cullen ( Robert Pattinson ). So I thought it would cool to know how to make yourself a vampire for a pretty awesome Face Book profile pic. And you will learn a 1 or 2 airbrushing techniques. So lets get started.
Here is a preview of my Johnny Depp Vampire:
COPYRIGHTED IMAGE - GB DESIGN |
The person I will be turning is Johnny Depp, if you don’t know him Google his name before you continue with this tutorial, I beg of you.
Step1 open the image you will be using in Photoshop and start off by duplicating the background layer and rename it to “Skin Texture”. First you will be doing some airbrushing. To start go to Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur and put in a good blur radius, but not an overpowering one( I used a radius of 5px and apply it. When you’re done with that go to Filter – Noise – Dust & Scratches, use a radius of 9px and your threshold at 35 levels and click OK.
Step2 first you’ll have to add a new layer mask, you can do that by going down to the layers pallet, its the little page button with corner thats lifted up. When thats done, fill the whole layer with black, to do this fast press D to reset your colors to Black & White and the press Alt+Delete. Now select your brush tool and with a soft round brush color in the face alone, but not the eyes and lips. It will look really milky when your done, but we’ll fix that now. Go to your layers pallet and set the layer opacity between 65% - 75%.
Step3 after your done with that, we can start working the skin tone. But before we start you have to flatten your image and duplicate the background layer twice, rename one of them to “Skin Tone”. Select the top layer and go to Images – Adjustments – Brightness/Contrast and set the brightness slider to +60 and click OK. To get the paleness go to Image – Adjustments – Black & White put these settings in ( Result may change from image to image ) :
· Reds - 40
· Yellows - 60
· Greens - 40
· Cyans - 60
· Blues - 20
· Magentas – 80
It should look pretty cool, but its not what we’re looking for is it? No it is not! We want the skin underneath to come through a bit, thats why we made 2 background copies. After the Black & White is applied go to your layer opacity and detune it to about 66%. Now we need to add a layer mask, you should know how to if you have been following the whole tutorial so I’m not explaning again. Fill the layer mask with black and use your brush to color all of the skin, make sure you ALL of it. Don’t color the eyes and lips. Right click on the layer mask and select “Apply mask” then right click on the Blacn & White layer and select “Merge Down”.
Step4 by now Johnny Depp should look a lot like a vampire, but something is missing AH HA! Its the eyes, we need vampire eyes. There are a lot of different vampire eyes, but I used the black eyes for mine. For the black eyes you will need the “Elliptical Marquee Tool” and make a selection around both eyes and press Ctrl+J to copy them into a new layer. For the eyes I used this color #161515, select the brush tool and set the range to “Darken” and color the irus black. Don’t worry about it being too dark ‘cause you can correct that by decreasing the opacity until the eye’s underneath show through a bit. Press D to rest you color pallet to the default black ‘n white and press X to switch your color to white on top of black. Use a small round brush and make like small reflection in the corner of the irus. ]
And your done!
So guys there you go, now you can show of to your friends and family. Please feel free to comment and ask for requests. My next tutorial will be about changing eye color.
Cheers for now!
